Kendrick

Kendrick Perkins was a force for years for the Boston Celtics.  When Allen and Garnett joined Pierce in Boston a couple of years ago many viewed Rondo and Perkins as the starters just to fill the lineup.  No skill was needed, the Celtics just needed bodies to fill up the starting lineup for the other three to make an impact.

Perkins however is a player that I've always had a lot of respect for. He seems to play like he's angry.  Though this doesn't seem like that big of a deal, I think it helps us out down low for sure.  Perkins doesn't have to come in and be the savior of the team.  All he needs to do is play big and physical.  Westbrook and Durant will take care of the scoring issue, Perkins needs to be big.

In his career he has shot 56.3% and averaged 6.4 PPG.  Aside from his offense Perkins has averaged, in his career, 6.1 RPG and 1.4 BPG.  These stats are a little lower however because he didn't become a full time starter until 2008, four years into his career.

As a Sonics/Thunder fan for years this team has whiffed on endless big men. Robert Swift, Johan Petro, Mohammed Sene, Cole Aldridge, Vitaly Potapenko, just to name a few who haven't lasted.  And guys like Nenad Kristic and Nick Collison were drafted for their offense.  Finally Presti made a great move with Serge Ibaka, and I have heard many call Ibaka the next Kevin Garnett.  If Ibaka has the freedom to roam and block shots as opposed to locking down the opposing team's big man, then he has the ability to blossom.  Perkins does that for our team giving Ibaka the freedom to be himself.

I love this move for the Thunder.
