'Real Housewives of New Jersey' Recap: Joe Giudice Is a Bad Person, Worse Drunk

Seems that after watching the episode of "Real Housewives of New Jersey' a lot of bloggers are pissed out there at Joe Giudice and right so. Needless to say I co-sign:
Tonight's episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey revealed something I had a sneaking suspicion to be true all along. Joe Giudice is the real reason for all the tension between Teresa and Joe and Melissa Gorga. Because he's a colossal douche bag.

Now, before I rip Joe a new one, I would like to say that Teresa doesn't totally get off scot-free in the Giudice-Gorga drama department. Nor does Melissa. Nor does her brother, Joe. They all add fuel to the fire. But, hooo boy, does Joe Giudice take the mean, nasty, threatening-text cake.

So, it was (one of) Teresa's book signings. (Nothing weird about that.) And she invited her brother and sister-in-law to attend. (A nice step in the right direction.) Then, on the day of the event, Teresa's animal of a husband starts sending rude -- and eventually threatening -- messages to her brother, saying things like, "I'm going to wire your jaw shut!" Holy shit, right? I mean, I knew Joe was a jerk, but I didn't think he was that big of a jerk.

Then, Teresa has her book signing. Kathy Wakile and husband Rich show up. (Aw.) And, at the very end, Joe and Melissa show up. (Joe Giudice never went.) Teresa has an oddly touching -- and sort of uncomfortable -- moment with her brother, and he tells her about the texts. She's pissed ...

... But not as pissed drunk as Joe Giudice is when she finds him at home. You know, there are certain people who get so sloppy and unattractive when they drink that it's hard to ever look at them the same again -- Joe is one of those people. (Not that I ever found him attractive before.) He was crass, he was loud, and he chipped his front tooth (and made daughter Gia cry) when he attempted a somersault-type thing on his kids' gymnastics mat. After that, he got nasty.

He starts yelling and pointing at Teresa (and telling her to shut up) when she confronts him about his texts to her brother. (In front of people.) I was actually proud of Teresa, because in what seemed like the first time ever, she actually stood up to him. But that only fueled him more.

He told her he broke up with her when they were dating way back when because he didn't need her (or, as he said it, "I didn't need yous"), and he went on and on about Joe Gorga. But he did this all sort of violently. In a word, he was a nightmare.

I don't think Teresa and Joe will ever get a divorce -- and I would never wish that on their kids -- but something has to give with that man. He is an awful, awful person, and as obnoxious as Teresa can be sometimes, she definitely doesn't deserve that.

Teresa Giudice: My Cousin Kathy Needs to Stop Lying

Celebuzz.com:
I was at the shore all weekend with Joe, my girls, and my friends — two of my friends from high school came to visit me — so I didn’t get to watch this episode until it aired on a repeat!

As I’m typing this, I’m watching Andy on Watch What Happens Live. Whoever that John Hickey guy is, I love you! Thank you to whoever voted to spend Christmas with the Giudice family (Andy, it’s “judyCHAY”! I’ll sort you out next week in the clubhouse… get my bellini ready!). But this year, I would’ve voted to spend with the Manzos too — my whole family was sick! You saw poor Gia throwing up, but you didn’t see Joe doing the same thing. We all had a stomach bug. You smile and push through it because it’s Christmas, but we were not feeling good that morning, especially Joe. I love that even though he was so sick, he still videotaped the girls while he was laying on the couch.

We were up so late too. We went to Midnight Mass, then came over to our house and we ate some more (looking back, this year the second round maybe wasn’t such a good idea…). We probably only had like 2 hours of sleep. So yes, that plus being sick didn’t make Joe super happy. And he was not happy seeing how unhappy I was about Christmas Eve. Yes, this time he did call Melissa a “witch.” You’ve seen my husband on TV for a few years now. You know he’s a straight shooter and he says what he thinks. I have no problem owning it when either me or Joe say something. Last week Joe was not talking about Melissa when she was standing right there. He was talking about Melissa’s sister who pulled his mom’s hair at the Christening. I think they ARE animals for doing that.

But this week, he did say she was a “witch.” Our kids weren’t around when he said it, I didn’t like it, and I told him not to say it, but it’s certainly not the worst thing Joe could say. I think what Kathy called me at Melissa’s party was a little stronger than that, no?

Here’s why he said it: I was DEVASTATED that Melissa and my brother Joey left our house in the middle of Christmas Eve. My parents were devastated. My kids were devastated. And it came out of the blue. I have never, ever spent Christmas Eve away from my brother and my parents. We always, ALWAYS spend it together. It’s “my” holiday–everyone comes to spend it with me, nobody has to “invite” anybody else. Melissa has Easter, and we do Thanksgiving with our in-laws. My mother actually used to host Christmas Eve, then I took over. We’ve spent a couple of Christmas Eves with Kathy’s family, but a long time ago (the last time she was at my house), always as a group, and it wasn’t our normal thing. Our thing was to be together with my parents. Me and Joey and our families and our parents. I know I’m harping on this, but you have to understand what a big deal this was to my family. And for the first time ever, with no warning, Joey says he’s leaving–before dinner!–because he’s going to Kathy’s house. Never in a million years did I expect that. My husband was right: if he really needed to go to Kathy’s house, he could have stopped there first, had drinks, and then come spent Christmas with his family. But instead, he stopped by, acted like nothing was up, then suddenly tells me he’s leaving. And within minutes of telling us, he’s saying “Pack it up! Pack it up!” It was just so sudden and weird and hurtful.

Kathy Wakile Talks Kids, Drama On 'Real Housewives of New Jersey'

Celebuzz.com:
Real Housewives of New Jersey welcomed two new editions this season, with one being the outspoken Kathy Wakile.

The mother of two teenagers, Kathy is a no nonsense when it comes to raising her kids.

Celebuzz chatted with Kathy about what it’s like to join the Real Houswives family, some of her favorite Bravo shows, all of this season’s crazy drama and much more!

You’re a relative newcomer to the franchise. How do you want to be perceived on this show?
Well, that’s a tough question. I think that I want people to really see me and my husband and children for what we really are. We are very common to most families that I know in New Jersey that are very, very family oriented. We love, we have issues, like this past week you can see, I share my daughter’s story with you. That was a difficult decision to make, to share that story because it was a traumatic time for us and it came completely out of the blue. There was never any indication that this was even happening with her. She just fainted on the beach and it was by being in the right place at the right time, with God looking over us, and it changed our lives forever. It was a miracle to have two healthy children to start with is more than anyone really could ask for, people take it for granted. Then, when you have a scare like that, and you are granted again a miracle. You have to stop and look at your life and say ok let’s get all of our priorities in line. Work is important and going, going, going is important but you know what, when it’s good let’s grab the good and let’s not dwell on the misfortune. Life is that way. Let’s not dwell on them, because when you dwell on them you are going to go from one misfortune to the next misfortune. You are never going to have a happy time, it’s just going to be a constant haul. So, for us, when it’s a good day, we grab it and we enjoy it. We pack up and we’ll take it, take a ride, just let’s go. It gets a little exhausting sometimes, because your like ok can we just sit around, like Sunday I wanted to just sit around, and my husband is like oh no it’s great let’s get in the car and go. So that’s what I want people to see, life is about ups and downs and it’s the decisions you make and the way you approach each up and down is the important thing and together with the love of your family and the support of your family you can really be productive and a good example to society and passing and paying it forward, that’s what it is about. We are lucky yeah, but they are some people that aren’t as lucky and let’s always remember those people and try to do good and give good.

Besides RHONJ, what is your favorite Bravo show?
I have to say it’s split, I love Top Chef. I love to be in the kitchen obviously you see me in the kitchen all the time. I bake and I cook. I have been in baking since I was a kid. I love things to look pretty so I think it’s easier to make desserts look pretty than it is food. For me, it’s always about appetizers and desserts and I love to present them beautifully because it’s about the first impression and that finishing, lasting impression. The middle course is great but I like the idea of appetizers and desserts because you usually don’t have to move it around and their small, when you are eating a steak you aren’t really socializing and I look at eating as a social event not just something to fill your tummy. I also love Flipping Out. I think they are hilarious because it was so funny on Sunday night Andy Cohen had Jeff Lewis and Jenny on and the fact that they compared my son to Jeff was just hysterical because I say that my husband is the street Jeff Lewis. When I see him and his assistant, and my husband has an assistant, they have done a lot of work with, they do the same thing he was buying houses and refurbishing them, then the real estate market crashed so I watch them interact and I think its hysterical because my husband does the same thing with his assistant and he is kind of short like Jeff is, also very particular and OCD a bit, you know the way that Jeff is, my husband is the same way, and he’s funny so that’s hysterical to me. I can’t wait to meet him, and Jeff loves chap stick and my husband will never leave the house without it. That’s the funny part to me and I love those two shows.

Have you met any housewives from other franchises?
I met Alex and Simon from the New York Housewives and they were very, very nice, extremely nice. They are really real and they are kind and they take the time out to smile and be nice to you and ask you questions about what’s going on. They were really great to my kids, if you treat my kids good, you’re winners.

What are the best and worst parts of being a real housewife?
The best part is the new experiences. You are meeting new people. I was a hairdresser for so many years, I would stand and work on my feet all day long. I loved interacting with people. I still love interacting with people. That’s the best part of it for me, meeting new people. Some people come up and share their story with you, it’s inspiring to know that maybe one word, one sentence I may have said touched someone. I am getting a lot of people that are emailing me and telling me thank you so much for sharing your story about Victoria and that they are experiencing it in their life. They don’t know how to move forward, I have a girl that emailed me yesterday and I want to sit down and email her back and tell her that even though everything turned out ok she is still having a hard time coping with what happened. You consistently think that something is going to happen again or you may have a reoccurrence. So to know that you reached someone on a more intimate level is very fulfilling to me and I think my family feels the same way. I think the downside is of course your privacy of course is really pushed a bit. Then, the fact that people really think they know everything that happens and they have such strong opinions. I think that the main thing, and I have discussed it with my kids, we get episodes a few days before. We get the episode, we get to view it so we can make our writer blogs and comment on it. We don’t even watch them a lot of times, you know we watch them once and then put it away. People ask, “so did you watch the episode?” not yet, we didn’t get a chance to, well why didn’t you watch it, well the only reason why I do watch it because I have to write my blog, other than that, I know what I did, I know who I am, and that’s what I can not, and my children can never lose site of, when we close the door, we know what our real reality is. That’s what we put forth, the only thing they put together, what everyone is going to see, is just a snippet of reality. I really can’t get caught up in someone’s opinion of me because I know my intentions, I know why I did something, and I know whatever our reality is has been working for us really, really well so we have to remain focused on that. So that’s the only thing when people have really strong opinions, you’re like ok, it does hurt, but it takes a little awhile to put things into perspective. I think the first trailer that went out, I was right upstairs and they told me the trailer was out, I got on my PC and I started to look at it and it was a snippet about me telling my daughter that they told me she may have cancer. We both looked at it and we didn’t really think much about it, they didn’t show the rest of it of course to make it more dramatic, and then I started getting calls from everyone, from everyone that knows me, asking what it was talking about and saying I wasn’t telling them something. I didn’t like the way that they did that. Other people’s opinions start to effect the way you think. We sat everyone down and we said this is going to happen every single week, we have to just keep focused, we know what we said and we know what we did, we know what the truth is. We know how things can be perceived, don’t let other people’s opinions of who you really are effect who you are going to be. I think a lot of people get caught up in that, they start, “oh this is the image I portray on tv, oh I am going to start becoming that image.” You get boxed in, you can’t let that define you. You have to just keep going about your life as normal as possible as you can.

Mommyhood to Hollywood Interviews Kathy Wakile

Part 2

Part 3

Teresa Giudice Calls Cousin Kathy Wakile “Two-faced”

RealityTea.com:
And on goes the drama off screen for the Real Housewives of New Jersey.

Teresa Giudice once again graces the cover of In Touch Weekly magazine, this time around under the heading “I’m Over It.” And Teresa, 39, isn’t really over the show, but more over her first cousin Kathy Wakile, 45, whom she feels has turned on her.

“Kathy’s trash-talking me,” Teresa complains. “Really, she’s kind of two-faced and she’s taken it to a whole other level. Everyone who watches the show will eventually see that side of her.”

Teresa goes on to reveal that she and Kathy were more like sisters than cousins growing up, and continued to be close, until Kathy switched her allegiance to her sister-in-law Melissa Gorga. “Kathy’s really tight with Melissa,” she notes.

Teresa adds that Kathy’s budding friendship with Melissa isn’t the only problem but that she also feels betrayed when Kathy allows her husband, Richie Wakile, to tease her. “He’s always on me, saying stupid stuff like, ‘How many times have you gone to the mall this week Teresa?’ He is very arrogant, and Kathy never sticks up for me.”

As for Kathy, she wrote in her Bravo blog recently: “[Richie] is a joker and likes to tease everyone. To quote my husband, he doesn’t give a ‘rat’s ass’ about how much Teresa spends.” Teresa goes on to add that she’s tired of being the punching bag for her relatives. “How can they treat me like this? I’m just over it!” she states. Seems like everyone else is the problem except for Teresa.

Kathy Wakile: 'I Never Wanted To Choose Between Melissa and Teresa'

Zap2it.com:
So far this season on "The Real Housewives of New Jersey," Bravo shifted the big feud from Danielle Staub and the Manzos to Teresa Giudice's family drama. Yet, Teresa's cousin, Kathy Wakile, says she had no idea at first that she was even being considered for the same show Teresa was on.

"Maybe it was naive on my part," Kathy tells Zap2it after we asked her if she thought Bravo was interested in her because of her connection to Teresa. "I really had no idea it was even for the Housewives."

The new housewife says her relationship to Teresa isn't something she flaunted. She has never shared the same last name as her cousin, doesn't tag Teresa in photos on Facebook, and she didn't like to tell people that her cousin was on the show until she really knew them.

"I didn't do that," she explains. "Because I would always like to establish myself for who I truly am on my own."

Of course, the cat's out of the bag now and to viewers it seems as if she sides with Teresa's sister-in-law and new cast member, Melissa Gorga, against her cousin. But, Kathy says that was never her intention.

"It's never been a team for me," she says. "I never wanted to choose between Melissa or Teresa. As I said before, I grew up with Teresa. Teresa is my cousin and I love her. I looked at her like a little sister. When Joe and Melissa got married, I looked at Melissa like a cousin too. And we all got along really, really well initially. And what happened was Teresa's life got busier."

Kathy explains Teresa became busy with her life and small kids while her own kids were becoming old enough to do social activities and Kathy needed to be with them. So, the cousins drifted apart. Meanwhile, she began to spend more time with Melissa, who even though she had small children too, she stayed closer to home and could spend time with Kathy.

"It wasn't a divide that was intentional by any means," Kathy says. "But still sometimes Teresa sees it that way. It was not intended to be that way."

Bad blood explodes between Melissa, Joe and Teresa at a family christening.

Teresa talks to Jacqueline Laurita about growing tension with her brother Joe.

Well, this episode certainly lived up to expectations and why would anyone be surprised that Joe Guidice is in the middle of it. It's sad to see a brother and sister not get along like that, but for now I'm on Joe Gorga's side if only for the fact that with all sorts of DUI's, fraud, verbal abuse, housing scams and other crimes we've seen Joe Guidice involved in the past couple of years, it's any wonder why Teresa still stays with the man--the guy's become a joke. I mean, getting on a father's kid because the son works too much and takes care of his family?!? Really now?

Jacqueline Laurita: NJ Housewives Is Less "Dark" Without Danielle Staub

It's just too funny watching Teresa's unchanging "this is the last place on earth I want to be right now" expression on her face in this clip:
With Danielle Staub long gone from The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Jacqueline Laurita and her costars are no longer running scared.

When the Bravo show premieres its third season Monday, fans will still see their fair share of drama, but as Laurita tells Us Weekly, this time it'll be served up family style.

"It's not the same type of drama than when Danielle was on [the show]," Laurita tells Us of the group dynamic in the wake of villain Staub's September 2010 departure. "I think that was a little more dark, and now [we as a cast] have less of a fear of life. It's more like 'Oh my God, what's my family member going to say about me?' because your feuding with them. This drama went on before with Danielle but you couldn't see it because Danielle's drama overshadowed what was going on in our lives."

In the mix for season three are Teresa Giudice's cousin Kathy Wakile and sister-in-law Melissa Gorga, whose family gets in a massive blowout with the Giudices on Monday's premiere.

No tables are flipped at Gorga's son's christening, but Giudice tells Us that the fight was so epic she "blacked out" and has few memories of the day.

"It's still a whole blur to me," Giudice says. "I blacked out that day and it's still blurry to me. When I watch the episode I'll see what went on because I still don't [remember]. It was a crazy day."

Real Housewives of New Jersey - Meet Kathy Wakile

Gotta admire how Bravo kept the news of Kathy being on a show such a secret--now we know that even Teresa didn't know about it.

Wayne New Jersey Resident Kathy Wakile Joins Cast of "The Real Housewives of New Jersey"

WaynePatch.com:
Wayne resident Kathy Wakile is no stranger to reality television.

Wakile is the first cousin of one the "Real Housewives of New Jersey" Teresa Giudice. Wakile make her debut as one of the newest members of popular show when season three debuts on Bravo May 16.

"She is a 'real housewife': Self-assured, fun, aspirational," said Christian Barcellos, vice president of production for Bravo. "Her husband is a hoot and she has two great kids."

Wakile has been married to her husband, Rich, for 19 years. They have two children, Victoria, 17, and Joseph, 15. Barellos said Wakile "works hard to keep her family's world in order and carefully monitors her children's social lives."

"The stories are born of their lives, their families, and their friendships," Barcellos said. "Kathy has two great kids who are entering their teen years and we'll get a glimpse into the challenges and joys of a proud mother seeing her children becoming adults."

But she also likes to party and have a good time. Whether it's hosting a theme night with her girlfriends or throwing Victoria a Sweet 16 birthday party with belly dancers, Wakile tries to live her life to the fullest.

It's Official: Melissa Gorga and Kathy Wakile Join Real Housewives of New Jersey

Kathy Wakile?!? Gotta give credit to Bravo for keeping that a secret because I certainly had no idea. And since both Melissa and Kathy are related to Teresa (sigh), is that Bravo's way of telling Caroline and Jackie that they better step up their act if they want to stay on TV? Guess we'll have to stay tuned:
'The Real Housewives of New Jersey" has two new cast members.

Melissa Gorga and Kathy Wakile will join the "RHONJ" roster when the show kicks off its third season May 16 (9 p.m.) on Bravo.

Both Melissa and Kathy are related to "Housewives" stalwart Teresa Guidice -- Melissa is her sister-in-law while Kathy is her first cousin.

According to an interview with Melissa posted on dbkp.com -- which has since been taken down -- Melissa says she was born on the Jersey shore. "I'm a shore girl, Toms River," she says and calls herself a "Benny" (which apparently indicates someone who's from Bayonne, Elizabeth, Newark or New York).

Melissa has three kids: Antonia, 5, Gino, 3, and Joey, six months.

Kathy, meanwhile, told dbkp.com that she has a 16-year-old daughter, Victoria and a son, Joey, who's 14.

Kathy's father and Teresa's mother are siblings.
