Kandi Burruss And Nene Leakes Dish On The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 4

While the Real Housewives of Atlanta continue to film their fourth season, Nene Leakes and Kandi Burruss hit up Atlanta’s V103 radio station and dished on what is to come!


For starters, Kandi revealed she is done making music with Kim Zolciak. “I only did those two songs. We’re not doing anymore,” said Kandi of working on Kim’s “music career.” Kandi also added that Kim has still yet to pay her a producer’s fee for the first song they did together aka Tardy For The Party. Kandi however claims she is oh so over it. Here’s to hoping that issue will NOT be revisited again on season 4.


Moving on to the Nene who didn’t talk about Kim, but revealed her divorce to husband Gregg Leakes will play out on the show. She also promised viewers will get to see what caused their separation on the upcoming season. Season 4 is expected to premiere this fall.


Meanwhile, it now appears new housewife Marlo Hampton and Nene have become BFFs after Bravo reportedly cast Marlo to stir up some drama with the Nene. See Marlo is engaged to NFL player Charles Grant, who is rumored to have had a fling with the Nene a year ago.


In fact the two ladies have been tweeting to each other quite regularly as well as hanging out. “Having sooooooooo much wit my girls @iheartmarlo @CynthiaBailey10,” tweeeted Nene last Wednesday along with a picture of the trio which is posted below. The ladies hung out again the next day to which Marlo tweeted, “@NeNeLeakes had so much fun girl.”

The ladies weren’t there to pump iron but to strut their stuff.


The occasion was the VIP pre-opening fete for Urban Active Buckhead, an upscale fitness center at 3535 Peachtree Rd. The 40,000 facility is tricked out with training areas and indoor tracks, 115 pieces of cardio equipment, a free weights floor, along with a fully supervised kids’ playroom with computer and gaming stations, movie viewing area, basketball court and even a nursery.


Urban Active plans a community grand opening from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday if you’d like to check it out. They’re planning more celeb visits from noon to 1:30 p.m., with actress Jasmine Guy confirmed to stroll the red carpet.

Kandi Burruss' Ex Fiancee's Teen Daughter Discharged From Hospital; Information On Shooting Sought

Asheley Jewell, the 15-year-old girl who was critically wounded in an apparent road-rage incident, has been discharged from Grady Memorial Hospital.


"She is at home and progressing daily," her cousin, Ebony Phillips, wrote Wednesday in an email to the AJC.


Meanwhile, a $2,000 reward is being offered for information about Jewell's shooting last month. And from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jewell's family and friends will canvass the area around Old National Highway and Jerome Road handing out fliers seeking information. They're calling it "Justice for Asheley Jewell Day."


Anyone interested in participating should contact organizers through the Justice for Asheley Jewell Facebook page.


On Saturday night, March 5, the Stephenson High School sophomore was riding in a vehicle with three friends when another car began chasing theirs in South Fulton County. Shots were fired, and Jewell was struck in the head.

Jewell is the daughter of the late A.J. Jewell, a "Real Housewives of Atlanta" personality who was the onetime fiance of cast member Kandi Burruss. A.J. Jewell died in 2009 after a fight in the parking lot of an Atlanta strip club.

Kandi Burruss to Host Party, Perform at Detroit Gay Bar

Singer-songwriter-reality star Kandi Burruss is paying a second trip to Detroit this year.


Burruss, a former member of the 1990s girl group Xscape and now a cast member of Bravo's "The Real Housewives of Atlanta," will perform at Backstreet, a gay bar on the city's west side. She'll also be hosting a party that night with two adult film stars and three drag queens.

A Real Housewives star has suffered another devastating blow after the teenage daughter of her ex-fiancé was shot in a road rage incident - just two years after he was killed in a brawl.


Asheley Jewell, 15, is fighting for her life in an Atlanta hospital after being shot in the head during a car chase.


She is the daughter of A.J. Jewell, who was engaged to reality TV star Kandi Burruss and appeared in the first series of the Bravo show.


Grammy award-winning singer Miss Burruss, who is still close to Mr Jewell's daughters, wrote on Twitter: 'My heart feels heavy today. I have my daughter and her friends so I'm trying to keep smiling but I'm worried about someone else I care about.'


The latest tragedy comes less than two years after her former fiancé was killed in a fight outside an Atlanta strip club in October 2009.


His daughter Asheley was shot as she rode along the Old National Highway in Atlanta in a car with four other friends at around 10.30pm on Saturday.


They were on their way to get some food when a car began chasing them - and one of its passengers opened fire.


The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Asheley was shot in the back of the head in what police believe to be road rage incident. She was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of Atlanta (which airs part one of its reunion show on Sunday, Feb. 13) has had no shortage of fireworks during its third season. And Housewives Phaedra Parks, Kandi Burruss and Cynthia Bailey sat down with iVillage recently to dish on the headline-grabbing happenings.


One of the biggest controversies this season? How far along Parks’ pregnancy was -- which led her castmates to question whether she was telling the truth about her due date. "I found that the drama surrounding my pregnancy and due date was very 1950s, very Peyton Place," the 38-year-old lawyer, who’s now mom to 8-month-old son Ayden with husband Apollo Nida, tells iVillage. "I had a very high-risk pregnancy and I was on bed rest and I was very sick. The people I chose to tell were people who would be very supportive. And as you can see from the show, sometimes there can be more negative than positive energy."


The would-they-or-wouldn’t-they-get-hitched question lingered throughout the season for 43-year-old model Bailey and fiancé Peter Thomas, whose money problems and relationship issues made their road to matrimony anything but blissful. "All kinds of craziness started happening during the whole preparations for the wedding," Bailey tells iVillage. "It was just a lot of drama. It didn’t look like (the wedding) was going to happen many, many times. Very bumpy road."


Equally bumpy was the dissolution of now-pregnant Kim Zolciak and NeNe Leakes’ friendship, which seemed to have been patched up this season after Kim alleged NeNe tried to choke her during an off-camera altercation in season 2. But that peace treaty quickly crumbled when NeNe joined Kandi and Kim for their promotional concert road trip from hell. "Being on tour on a bus together for like a week to two weeks and then you add NeNe to the mix -- ooh, it’s interesting," Burruss, 34, says with a laugh.

When it comes to the entire Real Housewives franchise, there's only one REAL singer: Kandi Burress, a former member of Jermaine Dupri-produced '90s girl group, Xscape (one of my favorites! Remember this one?)


I recently caught up with the sassy single mother, 34, to talk about her second solo CD, Kandi Koated (out now) -- plus, behind-the-scenes dish such as her real thoughts on "Tardy For The Party," the surprise dance hit she penned for co-star Kim Zolciak!


UsMagazine.com: I've been listening to Kandi Koated a little bit and love it. It has a lot of the old Xscape sound to it.


Kandi Burress: That was on purpose.


US: It's a little different than "Fly Above," which was on the EP. So what did you try to do differently with this from the EP?


KB: I wanted it to be a real hot R&B album -- no borderline pop, borderline this, borderline that. So what I thought about was my favorite time in R&B, which of course was the Xscape era. I really wanted to give people all new songs, and songs that I kept, like "Fly Above," because I feel like it's such an uplifting, inspirational record.


US: And "I Just Know," right?


KB: Yes. "I Just Know" is such a beautiful ballad, and also one of the songs that was inspired by my relationship with AJ when we were together, so I decided to use it.


US: Right, that song came after the whole AJ tragedy, but how did that shape this? There's a lot of hopeful songs about love, too.


KB: This album, isn't just about my relationship with him -- it's about finding love, having love, losing love, and getting it back again. I wrote that song right after AJ and I broke up before he passed. But it was after he passed that I really felt the lyrics even more.


US: Which leads me to ask: Are you seeing anyone now, or what's going on? Have you found someone?


KB: Yeah, I'm dating.


US: Just dating around or is there one person?


KB: One person right now, but it's not an official relationship.


US: Anybody famous?


KB: Not at all. (Laughs)


US: Recently on the show you were preparing this tour with Kim. Did that tour ever happen?


KB: Yes, it did. We did three cities: Charlotte, Miami, and Orlando.


US: And what was that like?


KB: The performances were cool. Being on the tour bus together 24/7 was interesting. (Laughs)


US: Why, what happened? Were there wigs everywhere?


KB: Well, there's just a lot of energy with her and NeNe. NeNe ended up joining us from Orlando to Miami, and then all hell broke loose. I can't tell you any more than that.

US: A lot of people say that you're the brains behind the whole Kim phenomenon, and that she's not serious. What do you think? And also, do you think it tarnishes your reputation? She's not the greatest singer, let's admit it.

KB: Honestly, she may not be the greatest singer, but everybody loved the song "Tardy for the Party." So that has to say something good on my part. Now, as far as Kim is concerned, I think that she's just having fun. In her mind I feel that she really does feel that she's a singer.

US: Do you think that she takes herself seriously?

KB: No, that's what I'm saying, I think she just does it for fun. It's fun for her.

I think that Kandi hits it on the nail here. "Tardy for the Party" is just fun for Kim. The song works with the 'Housewives''s gay base and allows for Kim to pretend like she's a diva--whether you hate Kim or not, one can't deny that she fell face first into a hit single and clearly NeNe's a little jealous of that. Either way Kim (and her legion of fans) still needs to give more credit to Kandi for being the brains behind the whole operation.

WCT: Thanks. Is it weird for you to watch the Xscape videos like they have on the televisions behind us at this place?


Kandi Burruss: Yeah, it caught me off guard when I first walked in. I was like, "Whoa!" It threw me off. I didn't know they were going to be playing videos from the first album.


WCT: That's wild.


Kandi Burruss: I always tell people that I was growing up when we first came out so when I see pictures and videos to me that's like looking at a high school yearbook. If everyone saw your high school picture how would you feel?


WCT: Embarrassed. I was a nerd in high school! You have been such a big songwriter for so long, writing such hits as "No Scrubs" for TLC, several for Destiny's Child and "There You Go" for Pink.


Kandi Burruss: I did. I wrote songs for other people for so many years.


WCT: How does it feel to do your own thing now?


Kandi Burruss: It feels good. For a while I thought I wasn't going to get that opportunity again. So it is really a blessing to be back doing my thing. I see so many artists come and go. So I know it's not just a given that you get to do that. It doesn't just happen like that. I am really happy and blessed to be able to come back again after all this time.

Kandi Burruss is one of the few artist out of the plethora of 90’s R&B groups, to continue fame as a solo singer and businesswoman. With a new album dropping December 14th, a staple reality TV show with The Real Housewives of Atlanta and a prominent songwriter for many acts, Kandi talks to Singersroom in our special “Kandi’s Room,” about the 90’s and staying relevant.

“It was a better time in music,” Kandi tells Singersroom. “I feel like the 90’s was the time when the labels really got behind their artists, they push their artists, they worked them and really worked that album. Now-a-days it’s all about the first week sales, if you don’t do what your supposed to do the first week then their on to the next and I think that’s lame because a lot of great music is lost that way.”

During the period of Kandi’s former group Xscape’s success, several other groups were also prominent. Running into a lot of those folks today, Kandi says she tries to lend a hand wherever she can even though she know it’s hard.

“I do run into a lot of the people that I’ve been cool with since way back in the early 90’s,” she states. “Our group came out in 93. It’s been people that I know that sold way more records that we did…now it’s like where are they now.”

“Some people can handle it and they change up, move on and do different things…some people, they’re not in the business anymore, they don’t even know how to get back in the business, it’s like they be trying to figure things out; they be on the verge of suicide…”

As one of the few to get back in the business, Kandi says “I really feel like it’s just been God for me because I prey about all these things that I want to do and some kind of way things just be falling into my lap and I just make the best of my opportunities when they come. Adding, “I just know you gotta make it happen when you can.”

I've been hearing mixed stories about Kandi and Neeq's "friendship'. I've gotten reports that Kandi and Neeq did in fact sleep together a few times—because Neeq is a known lesbian (who has secretly fallen in love with Kandi).  

As a result of Kandi's experimentation, she's had to deal with a crazy bisch lately. I dunno…Kandi is a self-proclaimed "freak" so she might have put them thangs on Neeq. *shrugs* lol

Even after all of whatever "may have happened", Kandi still viewed their "friendship" as the same…whereas, Neeq has been adamant about Kandi settling down to make a commitment to her and be…GAY.

And basically, Kandi is not trying to go that route for real. She has a daughter that she's not trying to confuse, and (if she did) sleep with Neeq…it was on some vulnerable sh-t.  I've been told Kandi loves d-ck to much to give it all the way up! *giggity*
 

Since Kandi's denying Neeq what she truly wants—the tension between the two has been building up for the past few weeks, and last night Neeq started TUUUHHRYING Kandi on camera!! (oooo no she diiiii-innnttt!!!)
